Comprehensive Building Surveys are sometimes known by other names, such as Structural Surveys.
Like Homebuyer Surveys, they comment on whether major defects are present at the property you are intending to purchase and comment on the general condition of both the elements which form the building and the surfaces included within it.
As the name would suggest, however, the report goes into more detail and a finer level of defect is reported on than would be commented upon in a Homebuyer Survey.
The Comprehensive Building Survey format is particularly useful in a number of circumstances and these are as follows: -
- Where the building you are intending to purchase is old.
- Where the construction of the building is not of a standard type.
- This is also useful at times when the property you are intending to purchase had undergone major extension or alteration so that comment can be prepared is respect of the alterations and works undertaken.
We would be pleased to discuss with you whether or not this is an appropriate type of survey to be carried out on the property you are intending to purchase.
